Transport Manager
North Kent
£35,000 – £50,000 (DOE)
Our client, a rapidly growing company within the construction sector, is seeking an ambitious and proactive Transport Manager to join their expanding team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking for a fresh challenge and really be part of an exciting project. With around 300 daily deliveries across London and the Home Counties, this is a unique opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of their transport operation.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily delivery routes for in-house and outsourced drivers.
-
Manage the transport team, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
-
Monitor and maintain compliance with FORS standards, health & safety, and transport legislation.
-
Oversee vehicle maintenance, servicing schedules, and fleet efficiency.
-
Develop and implement transport policies, procedures, and best practices.
-
Manage budgets, cost control, and reporting for the transport operation.
-
Support the rollout and effective use of transport management systems (Maxoptra).
-
Ensure high levels of customer service through efficient delivery operations.
-
Identify opportunities for operational improvements and process efficiencies.
-
Spearhead the growth of the transport department including purchasing vehicles.
What we’re looking for:
-
Proven experience in transport management and fleet operations.
-
Strong knowledge of FORS compliance and UK transport regulations.
-
CPC qualification is desirable — but not essential (support available to gain this).
-
Experience with transport management software such as Maxoptra is a plus.
-
Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
-
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
What’s on offer:
-
Salary £35,000 – £50,000 DOE.
-
Opportunity to gain CPC if not already held.
-
Be part of an ambitious, supportive team at an exciting stage of growth.
-
A chance to make a real impact within a dynamic construction business.
