We are proud to represent a highly successful, long-established engineering and manufacturing business in South, Kent, providing sub-contract component and assembly services across multiple industries, including automotive, electrical, renewable energy, medical, aerospace, and scientific research.
No two days will be the same as a Toolmaker for this company!
Working in a modern workshop alongside like-minded colleagues passionate about engineering high-quality products, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a wide range of machinery, including lathes, manual mills, surface and cylindrical grinders, CNC machines, and CNC wire erosion equipment.
As a Toolmaker, you will:
- Take pride in developing and maintaining high-quality tooling.
- Repair, modify, and improve tooling, ensuring all work meets design and production requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by sharing knowledge from past tool repairs and experiences.
- Read and work from engineering drawings and schematics, manufacturing parts accurately to brief.
- Identify design issues and provide solutions, collaborating closely with production and design teams.
- Program and set CNC wire erosion machines using CAD/CAM software.
- Adhere to safe working practices while focusing on efficiency and LEAN manufacturing principles.
To be considered, you MUST have:
- Solid experience as a Toolmaker within a toolroom environment.
- Practical skills to maintain and service relevant machinery (lathes, mills, grinders, multi-stage press and form tools).
- CNC programming and operation experience.
- A relevant engineering qualification (time-served apprenticeship).
- Excellent attention to detail, dexterity, and a problem-solving mindset.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- A proactive, self-motivated approach and a team-oriented attitude.
Bonus points if you also have:
- Design skills using Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar.
- HNC or higher qualification.
- Certification or demonstrable experience in LEAN manufacturing or continuous improvement.
