Senior Transport Planner
Canterbury – 5 days on site
c.£30-40k – competitive salary dependent on experience & attitude + progression + mobile phone + potential for funding for further qualifications
Monday to Friday 8am – 5pm/6pm with flexibility required as job requirements, including calls out of hours

I am currently seeking an ambitious and career driven Transport professional with strong track record in planning a large fleet proactively to join a well-established team based in the Canterbury area.
This role is a senior position within the team and requires an energetic natural leader with the ability to solve problems effectively, and an interest in progression to management for the right person. You will be an active, hands-on member of the planning team, dealing daily with long haul drivers, customers and suppliers and proactively spotting areas for improvement.
Clock watchers need not apply – this role requires someone committed who understands the importance of timely communication and who finds their work rewarding!
Duties for this Transport Planner role is varied but includes:
- The daily planning of a 150+ fleet of vehicles to ensure the quickest and most cost-effective route is taken
- Liaising with customers daily to update them on the status of their consignment
- Controlling various third-party systems to ensure all the correct details have been uploaded
- Working alongside senior management to ensure all customers are being serviced to the company’s standards
- Allocating jobs to drivers and making sure they have all the correct paperwork and documentation to be able to complete the consignment
- Liaising with several subcontractors daily
- Processing orders with accurate input
- Assisting colleagues at Director level to plan and facilitate action plans in accordance with on time in full deliveries
- Problem solving
- Taking/making calls out of hours where necessary
The successful candidate will have/be:
- Worked as a Transport Planner for a Haulage company or Freight Forwarder
- A proven track record planning routes for a large fleet
- A forward thinker willing to go above and beyond to ensure the job is being done to the best of their ability
- Ideally from a haulage or freight forwarding background
- Leadership qualities and experience in a supervisory role
- An excellent communicator with the ability to motivate and lead a team
- Able to make important business based decisions alongside senior management
