We are recruiting on behalf of a rapidly growing specialist HVAC business providing temporary heating and cooling solutions to commercial and industrial customers across the UK.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join their engineering team. This is a key role within the business, combining hands-on technical delivery with field leadership, problem-solving, and operational support.
The Role
As a Senior HVAC Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, servicing, maintenance, fault finding and breakdown response of temporary commercial heating and cooling equipment.
You will work on a wide variety of commercial and industrial sites, delivering solutions that help customers minimise downtime when critical heating or cooling systems fail. The role requires someone who is technically strong, comfortable working independently, and able to take ownership of complex projects from installation through to completion.
Alongside your technical responsibilities, you will act as a senior point of contact for engineers in the field, providing guidance, resolving technical challenges, and supporting the wider operations team to ensure safe, efficient and high-quality delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission and decommission temporary HVAC equipment, including commercial boilers, chillers, pumps, AHUs, heat exchangers and associated systems
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis and repairs on commercial heating and cooling equipment
- Respond to emergency breakdown situations and support critical customer requirements nationwide
- Modify and adapt mechanical pipework systems to support temporary installations
- Lead complex installations and provide technical support to engineering teams on challenging sites
- Act as a technical escalation point for faults, operational issues and engineering challenges
- Support site surveys, pre-installation planning and technical solution design
- Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, installation methods and operational efficiency
- Ensure all work is completed safely, professionally and in line with industry standards and regulations
- Maintain accurate service records, job reports and compliance documentation
About You
You will be an experienced commercial HVAC engineer with a strong background in heating systems, mechanical services and fault finding. You will have the confidence to work independently while also supporting and developing other engineers within the team.
This role would suit someone who enjoys variety, problem-solving and working on technically challenging projects where no two days are the same.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- Extensive experience working with commercial heating systems and mechanical pipework
- Strong knowledge of commercial boilers, forced draft burners and associated controls
- Experience diagnosing faults on air-cooled chillers and chilled water systems
- Understanding of AHUs, pumps, heat exchangers and HVAC plant equipment
- Good understanding of electrical controls and control wiring
- Experience working in commercial or industrial environments
- Ability to make decisions and solve problems under pressure
- Experience supporting or mentoring other engineers
- Commercial Gas Safe qualification
- F-Gas Refrigeration certification
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience within temporary boiler, chiller hire or emergency HVAC services
- BMS and controls experience
- OFTEC certification
- IPAF, PASMA and CSCS
- Experience contributing to process improvements or operational development
