Senior Estimator / Estimating Team Lead

A growing and well-established manufacturing business is looking to recruit a Senior Estimator to take a leading role within their commercial and estimating function.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll not only manage and support a small estimating team, but also remain actively involved in producing quotations and technical costings yourself.
The business is looking for someone commercially minded and technically strong, who enjoys working at pace, leading by example and improving processes within a busy manufacturing environment.
THE ROLE
Working closely with sales, production and design teams, you’ll oversee the day-to-day estimating function, ensuring quotations are produced accurately, efficiently and commercially.
You’ll act as the senior point of contact within the team, supporting Estimators and Estimating Administrators while managing more complex and technical enquiries yourself.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Preparing detailed quotations and cost estimates from technical drawings and specifications
- Overseeing and supporting the estimating and estimating admin team
- Reviewing pricing, margins and quotation accuracy
- Liaising with suppliers regarding materials, subcontract services and lead times
- Supporting production and design teams with manufacturing feasibility discussions
- Managing multiple live projects and enquiries simultaneously
- Helping improve estimating processes, systems and consistency across the department
- Supporting the commercial team with technical and costing insight during tender stages
ABOUT YOU
- Previous experience within estimating in a manufacturing, engineering, fabrication or construction-related environment
- Strong technical understanding and ability to interpret drawings/specifications
- Experience mentoring, supervising or supporting others within a team
- Commercially aware with strong attention to detail
- Confident communicator who can work across multiple departments
- Organised, proactive and comfortable working within a fast-paced SME environment
This role would suit someone currently working as a Senior Estimator, Estimating Supervisor, Technical Estimator or Production/Projects professional with estimating experience looking to step into a broader leadership role.
