We’re looking for a Road Freight Operations Manager to join a thriving, multi-site logistics business headquartered in Essex. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of a fast-paced road freight operation, managing a team of 8 and playing a key role in the ongoing success and expansion of the company.
The Role:
As Road Freight Operations Manager, you will:

Oversee daily import and export operations, with a strong focus on groupage road freight.

Lead and manage a team of 8 experienced professionals, driving performance, engagement, and continuous improvement.

Ensure operational efficiency while maintaining exceptional customer service, particularly for major client accounts.

Monitor and manage P&L, pricing, and cost controls to ensure profitability.

Work closely with transport and warehouse functions, ensuring seamless logistics coordination.

Contribute to strategy, process development, and commercial decision-making.
What We’re Looking For:

Proven experience in Road Freight (Groupage) operations.

Strong people management skills with the ability to develop and inspire teams.

Background in import/export (Customs knowledge is beneficial but not essential).

Experience managing major customer accounts.

Commercially aware – understanding of costs, pricing, and P&L responsibility.

Knowledge of transport, warehousing, and overall logistics processes is a plus.
