A progressive SEMH/SEN College in Maidstone is looking for a PSHCE Lead to join their team on a full-time basis. The college supports learners aged 14–18 with additional needs, helping them gain life skills, confidence, and independence.
This key role involves leading on Sex & Relationships Education and broader PSHCE topics for older students, guiding them through critical personal and social issues with compassion, clarity, and structure. You’ll support care and personal development as part of a nurturing and experienced staff team.
Qualified teachers are encouraged to apply, but the college is also open to unqualified candidates with the right experience and passion for this subject area.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the planning and delivery of PSHCE and SRE across the college
- Creating a safe and inclusive environment for discussion and personal development
- Supporting students’ social, emotional, and personal needs in line with SEMH/SEN strategies
- Working closely with pastoral teams and support staff to ensure cohesive care
- Promoting respectful attitudes, healthy relationships, and wellbeing
This role is perfect for someone who:
- Has experience teaching or supporting PSHCE/SRE topics with teenagers
- Is confident discussing and delivering sensitive content appropriately
- Understands the needs of young people with SEMH/SEN backgrounds
- Has a nurturing, professional approach to care and education
- Has a DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain a new one.
- Has a driving licence (but not necessary)
