About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Multimodal Freight & Customs Operator to join a busy operations team. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will coordinate international shipments, manage customs clearances, and support road and warehouse logistics projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate full door-to-door FCL shipments with overseas agents
- Arrange vessel bookings and coordinate collection from shippers’ premises
- Review and manage shipping documentation including Bills of Lading, commercial invoices, and packing lists
- Track shipments and maintain accurate customer updates
- Oversee supplier invoicing, customer billing, and incidental cost tracking
- Support inbound shipments for a 3PL warehouse project in Germany
- Prepare UK import and export customs declarations
- Assist with road freight coordination for European exports and UK imports
- Maintain operational records, KPI reporting, and shipment visibility across systems
Essential
- Experience in ocean freight forwarding and UK import/export customs declarations
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities
- Comfortable using IT systems and learning new software
Desirable
- Experience with road freight forwarding
- Exposure to CFSP customs clearance processes
- Experience with warehouse management systems
- Scope, CNS, Destin8, e-Customs by Descartes
