Job Title: Machine Operator
Location: Rochester, Kent
Reports to: Production Supervisor / Shift Manager
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday
Shift Times: 07:00 – 15:00 & 12:00 – 20:00 (rotating weekly)
We are currently recruiting for a Machine Operator to operate and monitor print production machinery, ensuring consistent output, high-quality standards, and timely reporting of any faults or defects for our client based in Rochester, Kent.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate print machinery in line with production schedules and standard operating procedures
- Monitor machine performance and output to ensure efficiency and minimal downtime
- Carry out regular quality checks on printed materials to ensure they meet company and client specifications
- Identify, record, and report any defects, faults, or inconsistencies in output
- Adjust machine settings where required to maintain quality and performance
- Ensure all materials used meet job specifications (paper type, ink, finishes, etc.)
- Maintain accurate production records, including output levels, waste, and downtime
- Follow health & safety procedures at all times, including safe use of machinery and equipment
- Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of machines
- Work collaboratively with the production and quality teams to resolve issues quickly
Skills, Experience & Personal Attributes
- Experience operating machinery in a manufacturing or print environment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to spot quality issues
- Ability to follow instructions and standard operating procedures
- Good communication skills for reporting issues and working within a team
- Basic numerical and record-keeping skills
- Reliable and punctual
- Proactive and able to work independently
- Problem-solving mindset
- Strong focus on quality and accuracy
- Flexible to work shifts
