Are you practical, mechanically minded and looking for a career where you can genuinely develop your skills?
We're recruiting on behalf of an established precision engineering manufacturer seeking an enthusiastic individual to join their machining team. Whether you already have experience using manual machine tools or have a solid engineering background and are keen to learn, this is an excellent opportunity to build a long-term career within a business that invests heavily in its people.
You'll initially work alongside an experienced machinist who will provide hands-on training before progressing into more advanced machining techniques as your confidence grows. This is a role for someone with the right attitude, curiosity and willingness to learn—not just someone who already knows everything.
The Role
Working within a busy manufacturing environment, you'll be involved in producing precision engineered components using a variety of manual machining equipment, with the opportunity to develop your skills on CNC machinery over time.
Duties will include:
- Operating manual lathes and milling machines
- Producing components from engineering drawings
- Using measuring equipment to ensure high quality standards
- Supporting experienced machinists with machine set-ups and tooling
- Maintaining a safe, organised and efficient workshop
- Developing your machining skills through structured training and mentoring
We're Looking For
- Some experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment
- Experience using manual lathes, milling machines or other workshop machinery would be advantageous
- Able to read engineering drawings or keen to develop this skill
- Mechanically minded with excellent attention to detail
- Positive attitude and genuine desire to build a long-term career
- Engineering qualification or relevant workshop experience would be beneficial but isn't essential
What's On Offer
- Competitive salary depending on experience
- Excellent on-the-job training from experienced engineers
- Genuine opportunities to progress into CNC machining and specialist engineering roles
- Early finish every Friday
- Long-term career development within a growing international manufacturing business
- Potential future opportunities to support continuous improvement projects, including occasional international travel for the right individual as your career develops
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to establish themselves within precision engineering and join a business where commitment, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are genuinely recognised and rewarded.
This vacancy is being advertised by Pearson Whiffin Recruitment on behalf of a confidential client. Due to the volume of applications received, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
