Circa £27,000-£28,000 + (milage contribution)

A fantastic opportunity for a Housing Management Officer has opened for a self-motivated and methodical individual looking to join a well-established company!
The ideal candidate will have prior experience in the housing management sector and will be confident in issuing tenancies, resolving disputes, minimising rental arrears and client debts, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements in the delivery of these services.

Duties include:
- Ensure all tenants have valid tenancy agreements and provide them with supporting documents. Support colleagues in explaining the responsibilities these agreements place on both tenants and the organisation.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate records of rent payments and charges.
- Work proactively with tenants and colleagues to address rent arrears early, including liaising with Housing Benefit and Social Services teams when required.
- Demonstrate effective management of rent arrears within agreed targets.
- Resolve tenancy disputes swiftly and professionally, offering advice and support to tenants and colleagues to prevent escalation.
- Submit monthly reports on rent arrears and outstanding debts to management.
- Help with benefit applications, including Housing Benefit and welfare claims, ensuring all actions are clearly documented.
- Collaborate with colleagues across internal departments, such as finance, and seek external advice (e.g. legal) when needed to fulfil responsibilities.
- Assist with the annual review and setting of rents and charges for supported housing, including discussions with Housing Benefit teams.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams and external agencies.
The right candidate must have:
- Strong understanding of housing management services and relevant legislation, including Local Housing Allowance and changes to Housing Benefit
- Confident negotiating rent and service charges with local authorities, with knowledge of exempt accommodation and intensive housing management
- Good understanding of supported housing and the needs of people with complex needs
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for tenant visits.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook)
