A new opportunity has arisen for a Buyer to join my client, a national manufacturing company, on a full-time permanent basis. This is a fast paced, busy, varied role and the ideal candidate will have worked within a manufacturing environment.
Duties:
- Collaborate with senior buyers to develop and nurture strong relationships with suppliers.
- Create, place, and monitor purchase orders to ensure timely procurement.
- Ensure products are sourced according to specifications, timelines, and budgetary constraints.
- Negotiate with vendors to establish positive, long-term partnerships.
- Research potential suppliers and make recommendations to senior buyers.
- Manage the open order book for selected suppliers to ensure on-time delivery.
- Work closely with purchasing administration to expedite overdue orders, promptly informing buyers of critical issues.
- Proactively monitor and manage potential stock shortages for key items, coordinating with buyers to ensure timely replenishment.
- Communicate risks of back orders to senior buyers and departmental managers to minimize potential customer contract penalties.
- Assist buyers in managing back-order items, including providing express freight quotations when necessary.
- Contribute to identifying opportunities for process improvements.
- Coordinate with various departments to ensure project completion.
- Uphold the organization’s core values in all interactions.
- Engage in special projects and undertake additional responsibilities as required.
- Review and approve supplier invoices for payment, resolving any discrepancies.
The successful candidate must have/be:
- Relevant experience within a manufacturing setting
- Exceptional organisational skills
- A genuine team player, happy to support your colleagues
- Excellent IT skills, including MS Office
- Able to work to tight deadlines, remaining positive and cheerful!
